The 304-SS hopper is deceptively simple but difficult to fabricate.
Material: 304 stainless steel is harder and stronger than carbon steel. Bending is not easy.
Assembly & Welding: The hopper is made from several sheet parts. 304 stainless steel reacts to heat, so welding quality can be tricky.
Shape: Most hoppers are irregular cones or odd shapes. Thick plates can warp or produce slag when cutting, which may misaligned parts.
Large Volume: With big hoppers, it becomes more difficult when you add stiffeners or bend up thick plate and stress and deformation come into play.
