The 304-SS hopper is deceptively simple but difficult to fabricate.
Challenges:
Material: 304 stainless steel is harder and stronger than carbon steel. Bending is not easy.
Assembly & Welding: The hopper is made from several sheet parts. 304 stainless steel reacts to
heat, so welding quality can be tricky.
Shape: Most hoppers are irregular cones or odd shapes. Thick plates can warp or produce slag when
cutting, which may misaligned parts.
Large Volume: With big hoppers, it becomes more difficult when you add stiffeners or bend up thick
plate and stress and deformation come into play.
This project shows we can handle complex sheet metal work, from thin copper parts to thick stainless steel, including
some particularly unusual shapes.
