For this golf sand wedge, we had close communications with the client for custom head design in terms of performance specifications and material density. The steel material was carefully chosen and tested out of numerous candidates, but 35CrMo had just the right balance between strength, machinability, and consistent weight without compromise to deliver both an authentic feel and durability.
The head was cast based on the final mold design and subsequently discussed with different machining paths and surface treatment. After casting, we delivered an initial blank to the customer, followed by machined and finished prototypes for approval. Each stage was approved before moving to the next, verifying that the result would deliver on performance and quality.
With the first finished batch approved, mass production was started. In order to meet the customer’s market deadline, we adjusted the production plan and produced an early batch ahead of schedule without impacting other projects, without compromising on our screenings and quality control at all stages.
